Frankland’s Day of Giving is Wednesday, December 14.

Frankland’s Day of Giving is Wednesday, December. 14, and we are asking families to consider supporting three worthy initiatives, Mr Bieler & Ms. Dwyer’s Class Bake Sale, the Shoebox Project & the Grade 1 Food Drive on this day. All three initiatives are collecting donations for three separate Toronto charities.

Mr. Bieler & Ms. Dwyer’s Bake Sale for the Riverdale Basket Brigade

On Wednesday, December 14, students are asked to bring $1 or $2 coins to buy a treat at the bake sale, which is being run by students in Mr. Bieler & Ms. Dwyer’s classes. All money raised from the sale will be donated to the Riverdale Basket Brigade.

The Riverdale Basket Brigade is a neighbourhood charity raising money to provide local families with holiday meal packages & grocery gift cards. This year the charity is hoping to feed 250 families in need. We are hoping to help the Riverdale Basket Brigade reach this goal. More information about the Riverdale Basket Brigade Holiday Campaign can be found here If families would like to make a separate donation to the Riverdale Basket Brigade, you can do so by clicking the link or by sending a small donation of $5 or $10 to school with your child for the bake sale. A separate collection tin will be available at the bake sale.

Shoebox Donation Collection is Wednesday, December 14

This holiday season please also consider supporting the Shoebox Project drive by filling a standard-sized, decorated shoebox (or memory box) with approximately $50 worth of gifts and essentials that any woman might enjoy and include a warm greeting or message of support. These gifts will be delivered to local women’s shelters and community agencies serving women impacted by homelessness across the city.

Please drop off your shoebox at our Shoebox Project collection table in the Frankland foyer (near the office) on Wednesday, December, 14, between 8:30 a.m. – 9a.m. and 3:15 p.m. – 4p.m. Refer to this checklist for guidance on what should go into your shoebox or for more information about the Shoebox Project click here Any questions, please contact Corina Chevalier at corinachevalier@gmail.com

Grade 1 Food Drive – Monday, December 5 – Thursday, December 15.

The grade one students in 107, 108 and 109 are organizing a Food Drive for Eastview Neighbourhood Community Centre’s Food Bank. The Food Drive is now on and runs until Thursday, December 15. Donations of non-perishable food can be sent with your child to school. The food bank is always looking for a variety of protein, baby food and even snacks, as they have many families with children who use the food bank.
