This Friday, May 13th we invite the Frankland community to a healing circle in the Frankland yard beginning after dismissal at 3:30pm with Rod Nettagog (“Bluestone Cloud, Ojibwe, Bear Clan).
Rod has been signing, dancing, and drumming for over two decades. He has brought his sessions entitled “Breaking the Cycle” to students in Grade 1-6 at Frankland. His workshops bring to life the core traditional values and teachings of the traditional ‘Grandfather Drum’ and its role for the community. Through drum teachings, traditional drumming, and singing, hands-on activities, and self-reflection, Rod Nettagog helps students explore their place in society and an appreciation for Indigenous culture. His workshops have aimed to restore knowledge of Indigenous cultural values, traditions and beliefs and to reconnect to ourselves, others and the earth.
We look forward to welcoming the Frankland community to this session with Rod on Friday.
